The Center for Multiscale Plasma Dynamics and The Center for Magnetic Self-Organization is sponsoring a winter school on Instabilities in Laboratory, Space and Astrophysical Plasmas at UCLA on January 7th - 12th, 2008. The school consists of six days of coordinated lectures on the basic physics and outstanding questions for six plasma instabilities. While the primary aim of the course is to introduce the subject in a pedagogical manner the latest ideas and results will be presented and discussed. The school targets graduate students in their 2nd year and above, and post-docs. 

Outline Schedule:

Monday 7th: Rayleigh-Taylor Instability (un-magnetized and magnetized)
Tuesday 8th: Kink Modes.
Wednesday 9th: Tearing modes.
Thursday 10th: Magneto-rotational instability.
Friday 11th: Kinetic instability
Saturday 12th: Alfven instabilities in Burning plasmas.Please spread the word around your department, especially among the students.
