Professor Ned Wright received a share of this year's Gruber Cosmology Prize. The prize goes to the COBE team and John Mather, chief scientist of the mission, for their groundbreaking observations of the microwave background, in particular of its inhomogeneities. The official announcement was made at the opening ceremony of the International Astronomical Union's General Assembly in Prague Wednesday, August 16 2006. The prize consists of a gold medal and $250,000 in cash. Congratulations to Ned for this richly-deserved recognition of his key contribution to our understanding of the structure and history of the universe.
