Spin transfers from initial polarized protons to final particles, in view of the quark-parton model, represent an important window for studying spin properties of both primary parton interactions and final jet fragmentation. For the last decade, spin transfers to strange and charmed hyperons at high energies have been the subject of a number of extensive theoretical studies. Large spin transfers have been observed in fixed target FNAL E704 and E665 experiments as well as NOMAD experiment, using CERN SPS neutrino beam. In this report, we discuss the PHENIX measurements of spin transfers from longitudinally polarized protons to hyperons at sqrt{s} = 200 GeV.
