We will
present the design of the specialized very forward calorimeter, CASTOR,
at the CMS experiment of CERN/LHC, and results of beam-test analysis.
Monte Carlo simulations of Strangelet production via deconfined quark
matter formation and strangeness distillation in the fragmentation
region will be discussed. Monte Carlo simulations of Strangelet identification
with this detector will also be shown.
